Natalie was definitely
well-prepared for kindergarten by her awesome preschool teachers.
Most importantly, I think she learned to care for and about
them and respect them and the school environment. So, although
she is not interested in "learning" with me, she
holds school and learning from teachers in great esteem.

Emotionally, Shea seems to be doing great with
kindergarten. It's a little hard to tell about the academic
and social part of it since I haven't had a chance to be in
the class or talk with his teacher yet.
I do know that Children and Company teachers are great with
getting kids to separate from their parents so I knew Shea
was ready for that part of kindergarten. He gets on the bus
each morning and never looks back - he was even great on the
very first day. I do know that having an older brother helped
Shea but C & C does a great job dealing with separation
issues.
The teachers also got Shea ready for the social part of it-they
were great with dealing with the kids and all their friends
issues.
So far so good with Shea!

Sierra is adjusting very well to kindergarten.
I think it really helped to have similar projects and stories
as she enters kindergarten - at Bellows Spring they did the
Kissing Hand on the first day and also Chicka Chicka Boom
within the first few weeks, both stories she knew well from
Children and Company. She said they are starting by learning
1 - 4, and then 5 - 8... which she says she worked on last
year at preschool, too.
The self directed activities in the afternoon are also very
similar to Children and Company -- books, art, and playing
pretend stations.
She did say she misses her teachers, I really think they all
did a fabulous job supporting and nurturing Sierra and giving
her confidence in school projects and activities.

Emotionally: He's fine. Nothing more than a
few jitters on the first day. Socially: Great. Making friends,
very happy. Academically: Ahead of a lot of the other kids
as far as I can tell...I am bummed the kindergarten is back
to doing letter sounds which he did in 3s and 4s class! He
adapted very easily to classroom routines and rules, which
I give full credit to C & Co for preparing him to do.
I can't possibly imagine anything more C & Co could have
done to help him prepare--he was absolutely perfectly ready
on the first day.
